Hello! Thank you for visiting my website.
I am a contemporary and historical fiction writer living in beautiful Henley-on-Thames, represented by the fabulous Broo Doherty at DHH Literary Agency.
I write under three names and across two genres.
My debut novel, Another Us written as Kirsten Hesketh was published in May 2020 by Canelo (launching towards the start of a global pandemic wasn’t exactly in the plan!) It’s contemporary up-lit and is the – hopefully! – heart-warming, poignant and funny story of a marriage at breaking point. Emma and Daniel’s son Jack has been diagnosed with autism and Emma is horrified to discover that 80% of such marriages fall apart. With its focus on family life, its humour and its exploration of relationships, I hope Another Us appeals to readers who enjoy character-driven books with satisfying emotional content and just a little grit. Although it’s a work of fiction, I certainly learned a lot about myself by writing it!
Then I moved onto something quite different. The Post Office Girls and A Post Office Christmas – written as Poppy Cooper – are a saga series in London in 1915. Published by Hodder & Stoughton in 2021, it follows the lives and loves of the girls who worked in the Army Post Office’s Home Depot on Regent’s Park sorting parcels and letters to the soldiers serving at the various fronts in WW1.
Next, I wrote a saga series as Kirsty Dougal which stars Ruby, a young munitions worker, who attempts to set up an animal hospital in London’s East End during WW1. Wartime on Sanctuary Lane and A Christmas Miracle on Sanctuary Lane were published by Penguin in 2024. A standalone WW2 novel, The Poppy Girls is being published in October 2025.
Confused? I certainly am! But there are more details of all my books on the website and I hope you will be tempted to look up at least one of them!
You can follow my writing journey on my blog – although I don’t update it nearly as often as I should – or connect with me on Twitter where I spend far, far too much time and tweet as @Kirsten_Hesketh. Please come and say hello!
Looks great Kirsten!

And do hurry up with the publication – some of us are getting quite desperate to read Another Us. I’m sure it will make us laugh and cry as much as you do in real life!
